What Ever Happened to Good Ol’ Fashioned Cannibalism?

June 12, 2012
By

Americans seem to have become obsessed with the idea of a zombie apocalypse.  Sure, there has been a couple of minute incidences that recently made it into the news of killing and dismembering as well as ripping flesh off with teeth, but that doesn’t make someone a zombie.

Luka Rocco Magnotta, the “Canadian Porn Star Killer” is clearly a psychopath and is not back from the dead. Let’s face it, he was Canadian, a b-list porn star and an ego freak who was found Googling himself in Berlin. Does that make him a zombie? No. These facts simply show that Magnotta was a crazy guy who probably should have been hugged more by his parents.

The Florida man, Rudy Eugene, was found ripping a homeless man’s face off while completely naked. In every zombie movie I have ever seen zombies wore clothes. Reports say that when Eugene was maced that he did not stop chewing and the mace seemed to “enrage” him. Has anyone ever reported being thrilled after being maced? Without a doubt surely the common consensus and reaction to a macing is rage. Although maced and shot, Eugene ignored attempts to qualm him and kept going. It is not because he is a zombie; it is because he was high on bath salts. Unless bath salts are confirmed to turn people into zombies, then they are simply high. There was no previous death certificate for Eugene, showing that he also was not the living dead. Hence, Eugene is not a zombie and is simply a drug-addict-turned-cannibal. If I were extremely hungry and high on these mystical magic potions, I might also think that someone looked like a hamburger or hot dog in the Bugs Bunny clip “Wakiki Wabbit”. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZR0O8F4lsQ

To top it off, in response to these stories, the Center for Disease Control released a statement saying that, CDC does not know of a virus or condition that would reanimate the dead (or one that would present zombie-like symptoms),”said an agency spokesperson. Really? The CDC had to waste money, time and resources to release this? Come on, people.

This is not to say that I believe in zombies nor would I like to take opinion to whether I believe the zombie apocalypse is upon us or that it could ever happen. I am just setting the facts straight here. Do not construe insecure insanity or drug-induced cannibalism to be the sign of an oncoming zombie fest.

However, I will admit, the CDC releasing a statement makes me a little unsettled. Doesn’t every zombie movie start out with a government authority releasing a statement that “everything is fine”?

When the toxicology reports come back, I can pretty much guarantee that they will show that Mr. Eugene was high on PCP, not mephedrone (“bath salts”). Any cop will tell you that when they encounter an enraged naked person who is impervious to pain, he or she has been getting into the angel dust.

Cannibal or zombie, PCP or mephedrone; If I ever encounter one of these psychos, I’m going to follow the first rule of Doom, the video game, and try my best to remove a large portion of his or her skull with a very large subsonic round of hollow point ammunition. I’ve been told that this works better than mace!

Indeed. Often times I get lazy and leave my gun at home–but perhaps I should make a point of always carrying it. You never know when you might need it….

EDITOR’S COLUMN

1
"I wanted my own column in the sidebar ... but now I don't know what to do with it."

"But sure you do! You write in it! That is what most people who claim the moniker of writer would likely do."

"But what do I write?"

"The resolution to that parable, my friend, lies upon the path that you must seek."

"Who are you?! And where did you come from?!"

"I am...the part of you that is, and will be, in all that we are..."

Hello Lab!

The voices are becoming louder and the cries ever more commanding. I hear them and I am working the best I can to whip myself into some kind of respectable shape and take back my claim to authorship.

So, I have been signaled to action from the Lab's headquarters. There has been much waking from many deep slumbers and now the drowsiness is fading and the challenges of the day are dutifully materializing before my conscience in their daily summons to contest.

No fear, Secret Laboratory! Power down the Bat Beacon, John.

John. John? Wherefore art thou? Come quickly and hear ye: The Lab is scheduled to receive a bright and refreshing burst of content! I have plans for at least one new category: Network Security

In the recent weeks I have become familiar with penetration testing software such as Backtrack and Kali Linux. These are Linux based Operating Systems that are used by network security professionals for white hat constructive hacking; and network exploiting operators for black hat destructive hacking. Writers of Secret Laboratory are free to show interest in this new category if you so choose. I will be producing content regarding how to crack WEP/WPA/WPA2 wireless encryption and how to protect yourself from such attacks, for starters. It only gets interesting from there.

For those of you interested in preparing yourself for this new world of fun and adventure, I recommend you go ahead and get the tools: Kali Linux
It can be downloaded at - http://www.kali.org/downloads/

The Secret Laboratory is in the grueling process of churning old gears and installing new ones to bring life into our world of journalistic comedy and tragedy. Sink or swim, this boat is headed out to sea.

I'm headed off to write a column now that the voices in my head have stopped...

But I can't seem to find John.

John?

Oh shit. Really? He's in the bathroom? Again? Geez, I'm glad I didn't have whatever he did. Must have been the pills. I'm glad I only had the purple ones...

"Hey John! Can you reach the mini fridge from in there? I think I need another beer!"
